Pregnancy Hormones By Week

1st week

The first week of pregnancy is all about establishing a pregnancy. Your body will start to produce a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) which will help to maintain the pregnancy. This hormone will also cause the corpus luteum (the structure that forms in the ovary after an egg is released) to continue to produce estrogen and progesterone. 2nd week

The second week of pregnancy is all about getting your body ready for the baby. The hormones estrogen and progesterone will help to thicken the lining of your uterus in preparation for the implantation of the embryo. They will also help to keep the embryo attached to the uterine wall.

3rd week



The third week of pregnancy is all about the development of the embryo. The hormones estrogen and progesterone will help to stimulate the development of the embryo’s organs and tissues.

4th week

The fourth week of pregnancy is all about the development of the placenta. The hormones estrogen and progesterone will help to stimulate the development of the placenta.

Congratulations! You’re pregnant! Pregnancy is an amazing time in a woman’s life. But, it can also be a little confusing. So, we’ve put together this handy guide to help you understand what’s happening in your body each month.

Month 1

During the first month of pregnancy, the fertilized egg (also called a zygote) will travel to the uterus and implant in the uterine wall. The placenta will also start to form, and the baby will start to develop its organs. You may start to experience some early signs of pregnancy, such as fatigue, morning sickness, and breast tenderness.

Month 2

By the second month of pregnancy, the baby’s heart will start to beat and you may be able to hear it on a Doppler. The baby will also start to grow hair, nails, and teeth. You may start to feel the baby move, and you may be able to see the baby on an ultrasound.

Month 3

In the third month of pregnancy, the baby will continue to grow and develop. The baby’s bones will start to harden and the baby will start to store fat. You may start to feel the baby move more and you may be able to feel the baby’s kicks.

Month 4

By the fourth month of pregnancy, the baby will be about the size of a grapefruit. The baby’s brain will continue to develop and the baby will start to practice breathing. You may start to feel the baby move a lot and the baby will be able to hear and see.



Month 5

By the fifth month of pregnancy, the baby will be about the size of a melon. The baby’s lungs will continue to develop and the baby will start to store minerals. You may start to feel the baby move a lot and the baby will be able to suck its thumb.

Month 6

By the sixth month of pregnancy, the baby will be about the size of a small watermelon. The baby’s eyelashes and eyebrows will start to form and the baby will start to store calcium. You may start to feel the baby move a lot and the baby will be able to hear and see.

Month 7

By the seventh month of pregnancy, the baby will be about the size of a large watermelon. The baby’s brain will continue to develop and the baby will start to store fat. You may start to feel the baby move a lot and the baby will be able to hear, see, and taste.

Month 8

Pregnancy Week 16

The fetus at week 16 is about the size of a grapefruit. Its arms and legs are growing longer and its body is becoming more proportionate. The fetus’ eyes can now open and close and its ears are formed and can hear sounds. The fetus’ skin is thin and translucent and its veins are visible. The fetus is also beginning to move, although you likely won’t feel it yet.

The placenta is now fully formed and is providing the fetus with nutrients and oxygen. The umbilical cord is also growing and providing the fetus with a way to expel wastes. The amniotic sac is also developing and will eventually protect the fetus.

Your body is also changing as the fetus grows. You may be experiencing fatigue, morning sickness, and mood swings. You may also be experiencing cravings and aversions to certain foods. You should be drinking plenty of water and eating a healthy diet.

You should also be taking prenatal vitamins and folic acid. Folic acid helps to prevent birth defects of the brain and spine. It is important to take prenatal vitamins even if you are not experiencing any symptoms.

At week 16, the fetus is approximately 3.5 inches long and weighs about 1.3 ounces.

6 Weeks Pregnancy Symptoms

Pregnancy is an amazing time, but it can also be a time of doubt and worry. This is especially true in the early weeks, when many women do not yet have a bump and may not feel any different. So, what are the symptoms of pregnancy in the first 6 weeks?

Welcome to our 12 week pregnancy blog! This is a space where we will be sharing weekly updates on our pregnancy, as well as tips, advice and information on everything related to pregnancy and childbirth.

We are so excited to be pregnant and can’t wait to share every step of the journey with you!

This week we are at 12 weeks and 2 days pregnant. We had our 12 week ultrasound scan this week and it was so amazing to see our little baby on the screen! Our little one is the size of a grape and has started to develop some features – their eyes, nose and mouth are all starting to take shape.

We are feeling great this week and are really starting to enjoy being pregnant. We have had some great advice from friends and family and have been reading up on everything we need to know about being pregnant.

Here are some of the things we have been doing this week:

– Taking regular walks and doing some light exercise

– Eating a healthy, balanced diet

– Taking our prenatal vitamins

– Drinking plenty of water

– Avoiding caffeine and alcohol

– Resting when we need to

– Enjoying the journey!
