As women age, their fertility declines. This is due, in part, to a decrease in the number of eggs available for fertilization. Maca root has been traditionally used to help increase fertility in women.
Maca root is a Peruvian herb that has been used for centuries to enhance fertility. Maca root contains plant sterols, which are thought to help increase the number of eggs available for fertilization. Maca root also contains minerals and vitamins that are important for fertility, such as vitamin B6, iron and magnesium.
Maca root is available in powder or capsule form. To increase fertility, take 1-2 teaspoons of maca root powder per day, or take 1-2 capsules per day. Be sure to speak with your health care provider before taking maca root if you are pregnant or nursing.
