It’s typical for pregnant women to experience a vast array of physical and emotional changes, many of which can be attributed to the hormonal shifts that accompany pregnancy. Common pregnancy symptoms include:
- Fatigue
- Nausea and vomiting
- Food cravings and aversions
- Frequent urination
- Mood swings
- Tender breasts
Is Forgetfulness a Pregnancy Symptom?
Despite having been documented as far back as Ancient Egypt, forgetfulness during pregnancy is still largely considered an old wives’ tale. However, recent studies suggest that forgetfulness can be a symptom of increasing levels of the hormone progesterone, as well as high levels of stress and sleep deprivation.
What Causes Pregnancy-Related Forgetfulness?
There are a number of potential causes of forgetfulness during pregnancy, including:

- Prioritize: Make sure to prioritize tasks and keep a notepad or digital organizer handy to jot down reminders.
- Sleep: Aim to get 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to help your brain rest and recharge.
