Knee Pain Pregnancy

However, there are a few cases of knee pain during pregnancy that may be due to a more serious condition and require medical attention.
The most common cause of knee pain during pregnancy is due to the changes in hormones and the extra weight that the pregnant woman is carrying. The ligaments that support the knee can become lax, causing the knee to give way. Additionally, the joint fluid that normally lubricates the knee may decrease, leading to pain and swelling.
There are a few simple measures that can be taken to help relieve knee pain during pregnancy. First, try to avoid standing or sitting for long periods of time. When you do have to stand, take frequent breaks and flex your feet. When sitting, use a pillow to support your knees. You may also want to try using a support band around your waist to help take some of the weight off your knees.
If the knee pain is severe or does not improve with conservative measures, then you should see your doctor. There may be a more serious condition causing the pain, such as osteoarthritis or pre-eclampsia.
